coppa-camuna-zelazna-misa-o23-cm
CAMUNIAN COPPA - iron bowl Ø23 cm

Giulio Iacchetti, co-creator of the Il Tornitore Matto project, also participates as a designer, offering us, after the Conca container,
a second article with a strong expressive charge: Coppa Camuna.
The object stems from the designer's fascination with the age-old tradition of ironworking rooted in Valle Camonica, located in the Central Alps,
between the provinces of Brescia and Bergamo. In Bienno, the "village of a thousand forges," where the knowledge of this archaic craftsman is preserved,
Iacchetti found people who could help him develop the project for an iron container. Thus, a dialogue was born between the designer
and the artisans of Bienno, a shared journey that gradually led from the initial design to the initial form,
and from that - in a kind of genre evolution - to the final artifact. Coppa Camuna has a seemingly brutalist form that resembles a war helmet, but inverted upwards towards the sky, transformed into a container ready to hold a flower or become an instrument
of offering. In other words, an extraordinary subversion of meaning that transforms a symbol of war into an artifact of offering. The production process, in turn, contains a transition of meaning, from strength to offering: iron, turned with powerful energy, then passed through fire for
final wax treatment, becomes a poetic object containing, as its designer says, "the things of life."

The ancient manufacturing process of Coppa Camuna is handmade on a lathe, then passed through fire to heat it and absorb the beeswax applied to its surface with quick gestures; this protects the metal from rust. As its designer said: "an ancient process, and a primal form, with a deliberately rough surface, for an object created to confront human culture."
Between art and anthropology, produced in a limited edition of 999 pieces, Coppa Camuna comes from a centuries-old production culture: an object dedicated to those who appreciate the wisdom of creation and the human hand.
A renewed conversion to kindness.
An object with high narrative content: its shape, reminiscent of warlike aggression, loses its original meaning and is reborn as a pacified symbol of care and hope.
Visible imperfections or deformations, attributed to the manual production process, make each piece unique, emphasizing its artisanal character.

Handmade in Italy.
Iron, an ancient material, is one of the most abundant elements in the Earth's crust and the most recyclable. It can be used repeatedly without losing its properties, which reduces the need to extract new natural resources and
reduces its environmental impact. The beeswax coating, which protects the bowl from oxidation, is a traditional and
ecological practice typical of iron artisans in Valle Camonica.

USE AND MAINTENANCE:
We recommend using a soft cloth dampened with lukewarm water.
Do not wash in a dishwasher or in very hot water to avoid damaging the natural beeswax coating.

PACKAGING
Coppa Camuna comes with a certificate of authenticity and a short publication with texts by Alberto Alessi and Giulio Iacchetti.

Ø CM 23 - H CM 11

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1015/9403/8619/files/40236-main_aebe4601-772e-4a36-aa1f-dc8c66fe0d37.webp?v=1787328707
