Discovering roots to build the future
Il Tornitore Matto is an idea by Alberto Alessi. Conceived in collaboration with Giulio Iacchetti, it is the beginning of a new, experimental design brand. Rooted in Alessi’s manufacturing origins, the initiative is a spin-off, a collection of objects that blends design, industry, and craftsmanship. The impulses behind the venture are many, but two stand out. One is the decorative arts movement. The Wiener Werkstätte, whose approach has been a constant reference point for Alberto Alessi over the years. Founded in 1903, the "Vienna Workshop" involved many of the most gifted artists of the period. Working side by side with the craftspeople, they
created exquisite, sophisticated artifacts. The second main impulse behind Il Tornitore Matto is Alice
in Wonderland, a world in which the rules are crazy. This refers to the freedom of the design from the typical constraints of industrial production to give rein to human creativity.
This first chapter of a manufacturing adventure, aimed at poetic technique, involved nine designers, including Iacchetti. Each element in the collection is marked with the year of production and a sequential number. Il Tornitore Matto is dedicated to lovers of applied arts; to people who appreciate objects produced on the borderline between industry and high craftsmanship; and to collectors in search of niche
objects to enrich their design gallery.

Cake stand in turned aluminium, green anodised aluminium finish.

Made entirely on a lathe, from green anodised aluminium, the Discolo cake stand accompanies the centrepiece
presented in 2023, establishing a dialogue directly with its large edgy forms.
A dialogue that also continues in the three colour variations of the centrepiece: green, orange, and light blue.
An invitation to a monochromatic style with the green version of both elements or a combination of the cake stand and centrepiece in the other two available shades. The coloured anodised aluminium brings an element of industrial modernity into the home; at the same time, the balance on the turned and superimposed volumes harks back to a "classic" style.

Strong and durable, aluminium is also 100% recyclable. The material can be recycled an infinite number of times without losing its properties.

USE AND MAINTENANCE:
Clean with a sponge or soft cloth with baking soda mixed with water or soap and
hot water. Dry carefully.
