Stonewashed cotton is exceptionally pleasant to the touch - the processing makes the fabric soft from the first use, it won't shrink after washing, and with each wash it becomes even softer.

The art of stonewashing

Not all cotton is the same - and the finishing method of the fabric makes a huge difference. Many cotton products enter the market in a raw state, straight from the loom, without any finishing, or only pre-washed to remove sizing. These are honest, traditional approaches, but the fabric often hardens after the first wash and can shrink unpredictably.

This bedspread was made in Portugal using the Garment Dye and Wash technique - known in the industry as stonewashing. This careful finishing process involves the finished product, not the raw fabric - it is washed and tumbled until it achieves its final, stable dimensions. The result is a soft and relaxed fabric from the first use, with a guarantee of 0% shrinkage. What you receive remains unchanged - wash after wash, year after year. With each subsequent wash, the fabric only becomes softer and more beautiful.
