New ergonomics for the home.
Fully aware of the narrative potential of an object, Sicilian architect Mario Trimarchi designed the "Ossidiana" coffee maker.
Like his other designs, this one is based on memories and fragments of images, told in the form of an article. "Ossidiana" refers to the memory of different aspects of the traditional moka pot and obsidian, the volcanic rock from which its name is derived.
Made of polished aluminum, this coffee pot has a series of sides that emphasize its ergonomics, making it fit perfectly in the hand, facilitating opening and closing. The small spherical aluminum handle, covered with thermoplastic resin to prevent burning, almost disappears, allowing the pot to express all its visual strength. However, the small size of the sphere does not affect its functionality.
Placed close to the handle, it can be operated with just one finger. The lid has a small internal tongue that collects condensed steam when opened, causing it to flow into the pot itself, rather than along the handle. The latter, made of black thermoplastic resin,
also has a faceted shape that is both ergonomic and functional. It is made of black thermoplastic resin and placed at an appropriate distance from the body of the pot to prevent burns when held. "Ossidiana" is available in 1, 3, and 6 cup sizes and comes in a special hexagonal packaging designed by Mario Trimarchi, which matches the faceting of the coffee maker.

"Recently I have been very interested in sculpture. Sculpture that removes matter from a solid to discover hidden forms
within. I started with a cylindrical solid, eliminating unnecessary aluminum scales one by one to obtain a coffee maker that
was like an architectural sculpture, one that fits well in the hands when unscrewing. Flint, the material of our first
recorded ancestral tools, was also used in this way, through subtraction, or the removal of material. "Obsidian" suggests a new kind of ergonomics
for everyday objects, and its form observes us, mysterious and timeless."
